Joan Baez

Joan Baez is an American folk singer from the San Francisco Bay Area who started recording in 1960 and quickly became a central figure in the folk revival of that decade. Her clear soprano voice and acoustic guitar work brought traditional ballads and protest songs to wide audiences, and over the years her music has taken in folk rock, country, gospel, and pop. She is also a longtime political activist, and that spirit runs through much of her recorded output.
