El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico

El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico is a salsa orchestra from San Juan, Puerto Rico, founded in 1962 after the breakup of the Combo de Rafael Cortijo. Over the decades they earned the nickname La Universidad de la Salsa in Colombia, reflecting how many prominent salsa singers and musicians came up through the group. Their music draws on Afro-Caribbean rhythms and has made them one of the most enduring and celebrated ensembles in Latin music.
