Del Shannon

Del Shannon was a rock and roll singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Coopersville, Michigan, born Charles Weedon Westover in 1934. He built his reputation on melodic pop-rock with an instantly recognizable falsetto, breaking through in 1961 with 'Runaway', a number-one hit he co-wrote himself. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
