David Allan Coe

David Allan Coe (1939-2026) was an American singer-songwriter from Ohio who spent much of his early life in reform schools and prisons before turning to music. He started out playing blues, busking in Nashville, and later became a central figure in the outlaw country movement of the 1970s. His songs range from hard-living blues to country storytelling, and he also wrote hits recorded by other artists, including Tanya Tucker.
